Did you know? In Croatia there is an island shaped like a fingerprint — it’s called Bavljenac (also spelled Baljenac).
Its distinctive appearance is due to a network of ancient dry stone walls, built by farmers from the nearby island of Kaprije, to protect crops and divide plots on the rocky terrain.
These walls have been preserved and give the island its signature pattern. The island became famous on social media because of its unusual shape when viewed from above.
